About the Position
Ghent University is seeking a PhD student to conduct research on data vaults in agriculture, ensuring the safe and reliable exchange of data between farmers, suppliers, and clients. This research is part of a European-funded project and aims to develop innovative solutions for secure agricultural data management. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to define the specific research focus within the project's scope and will work toward completing a doctoral dissertation within four years. The PhD research will be conducted in collaboration with ILVO
Key Responsibilities
Conduct academic research on data vault applications in agriculture, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange.
Define a specific research topic within the scope of the funding project.
Manage the administrative and organizational aspects of the European project related to the research.
Engage in training and courses to expand knowledge of agricultural systems as needed.
Prepare scientific reports and publish research findings.
Travel within Europe when necessary for project meetings and conferences.
Candidate Profile
Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, ICT, or a related domain.
Strong interest in the technical and organizational aspects of agriculture.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel within Europe when required.

Full-time PhD fellowship (initial 12-month contract, extendable up to 48 months upon positive evaluation).
